Two macaques successfully join Bandit’s crew

After terrible starts in life, our boys, Bou Bou and Boon Lott, have successfully joined Bandit’s crew! ภาษาไทยด้านล่าง

Boon Lott (sub-adult) came to WFFT in November last year with a vine caught around his arm. He was mysteriously tame. We believe he is an escaped or unwanted coconut-picking monkey. The injury was so badly infected, the only thing we could do was amputate the arm. 

Little Bou Bou (juvenile) arrived in April this year after being handed over to WFFT. Around 18 months before, he was found clinging to his dead mother on the side of the road after a car hit her. He was taken care of by the people who found him until they realised he needed to be with his own species and get specialist care. 

Bou Bou is a young and confident macaque and fitted into his new family group very well. He absolutely adores swimming and wrestling with his new friends. Initially, Boon Lott seemed scared of the other macaques and much preferred human company. But with a little time, he is now flourishing. The dominant females often groom Boon Lot, which is heartwarming to see. He and Bou Bou have well and truly been accepted into the group.

บูบู้และบุญรอด” กับเพื่อนใหม่และชีวิตใหม่ที่มีความสุขในฝูงบัณฑิต

บุญรอด ลิงวัยรุ่นที่ยังไม่โตเต็มวัยนัก เราช่วยเหลือบุญรอดไว้ตั้งแต่เดือนพฤศจิกายนปีที่แล้ว ซึ่งบุญรอดมาพร้อมกับแขนขวาที่ถูกเถาวัลย์รัดไว้ แต่ที่น่าประหลาดใจคือ บุญรอดนั้นเชื่องมาก ชัดเจนว่าน่าจะเคยเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงมาก่อน ซึ่งบุญรอดอาจจะหลุดออกมา หรือไม่ก็เคยเป็นลิงเก็บมะพร้าวที่เจ้าของไม่ต้องการแล้ว บาดแผลจากการถูกรัดทำให้แขนติดเชื้อรุนแรง ทางเดียวที่ทีมสัตว์แพทย์ของมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่าทำได้คือตัดแขนเพื่อรักษาชีวิต 

บูบู้ ลิงเด็กวัยรุ่นมาอยู่กับเราเมื่อเดือนเมษายนที่ผ่านมา ในช่วงเวลา18 เดือนก่อนหน้านี้ บูบู้เกาะติดอยู่บนอกแม่ที่เพิ่งถูกรถชนตายบนถนน คนที่พบเจอจึงตัดสินใจดูแลบูบู้มาตั้งแต่ตอนนั้น เมื่อบูบู้โตขึ้นเจ้าของที่เลี้ยงดูบูบู้ต้องการให้บูบู้มีชีวิตที่เป็นลิงได้อยู่กับฝูง มีเพื่อน และการดูแลจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ 

บูบู้เป็นหนุ่มน้อยที่ค่อนข้างมั่นใจในตัวเอง และเข้ากับฝูงได้อย่างดีเยี่ยม บูบูชอบว่ายน้ำและเล่นมวยปล้ำกับเพื่อนใหม่ ส่วนบุญรอดในช่วงแรกนั้นค่อนข้างขี้กลัวและยังอยากอยู่กับคนมากกว่า แต่ตอนนี้บูบู้ปรับตัวได้ดีมากในฝูง ตัวเมียที่แข็งแกร่งในฝูงมักชอบแต่งขนและหาปรสิตให้กับบุญรอด หรือที่เรียกพฤติกรรมทางสังคมนี้ว่าการ grooming ทั้งบุญรอดและบูบู้ถูกต้อนรับเข้าฝูงเป็นอย่างดี ทำให้เรารู้สึกอบอุ่นหัวใจกับภาพที่เห็นเป็นอย่างมาก
