Shampoo and Hoy, two stunning long-tailed macaques, have recently arrived at WFFT after enduring years in a cramped cage, deprived of sunlight and freedom.
Update – Mam and Willem Move to New Home
Two very special residents of the WFFT Wildlife Rescue Centre have progressed further in their new lives free from exploitation and abuse. Elderly resident long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) ‘Mam’ and Willem’ have moved into a large open field where they are now living in a more natural setting, with ample space to roam. Mam was kept as a pet for 12 years, most of this time was spent restrained by a chain around her neck, Willem was rescued from a zoo in Bangkok. They are sharing their new home with 9 other elderly and special needs monkeys in the New Lands area of WFFT. Check out these photos of them meeting their new friends and enjoying their new home. This is as good as it gets for these poor victims of the illegal wildlife trade, who cannot be returned back to the wild.
