Shampoo and Hoy, two stunning long-tailed macaques, have recently arrived at WFFT after enduring years in a cramped cage, deprived of sunlight and freedom.
Heartbreaking Rescue: Three Monkeys Saved from Decades of Suffering
We’ve rescued three macaques who have spent their lives trapped in unimaginable cruelty. One macaque has endured a staggering 25 years of confinement, while the other two have suffered for 20 years, all in a 1m cage. The conditions they’ve endured are beyond shocking—frail bodies, sunken eyes filled with despair, and skin so pale it speaks to the years of neglect they’ve faced away from their natural habitat.
It’s nothing short of a miracle that these resilient creatures have survived this long under such horrific conditions. Their bodies are so weakened from the prolonged confinement that they are unable to climb or move with ease, something that would be natural to them in a healthy environment. These poor animals were never even given names.
Now, for the first time in their lives, these three macaques (two Pig-tailed macaques and one Assamese macaque) are getting the care they need at WFFT. But their journey to recovery is just beginning. They need immediate medical care, intensive rehabilitation, and a nurturing environment to heal both physically and emotionally. The suffering they have endured is some of the most severe we’ve ever encountered, and they face a long road ahead.
We urgently need your support to help provide these monkeys with the care and hope they so desperately need. Your donation can make a profound difference in their recovery and future.
Please contribute today to help transform their lives and offer them a chance at a brighter, healthier future.
