Rescued – Cha Ngae the Long-tailed Macaque

In the middle of the night, a concerned local drove to the WFFT Rescue Centre with a severely injured female Long-tailed Macaque (Macaca fascicularis) who need urgent treatment after being hit by a car.

Our Vet Team checked her health and performed an x-ray. Luckily, it seems that she has no fractured bones, only bruises cover the whole face. They decided to give her IV fluids to restore her energy and let her settled in. We named her after a temple she came from ‘ Cha Ngae ‘.

After 4 days of intensive care, she began to eat and move well again, signs that she was recovering. Cha Ngae will be released back into the wild, once we are sure she has the best chance of survival. We will keep you posted.

The long-tailed macaque is the most common species of primate in Thailand. They are ubiquitous, whether in the forests, parks, tourist sites or temples. It reflects how humans are invading and disturbing their natural habitat. These monkeys are left with no choice but to co-exist with humans, which can lead to them to stealing food and raiding properties. The conflict between wildlife and humans in Thailand is a common problem, especially with macaques.

เมื่อกลางดึกสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมามีพลเมืองดีขับรถนำสิงเเสม(Long-tailed Macaque)ได้รับบาดเจ็บนำมาให้มูลนิธิฯเพื่อรับการรักษา

ทีมสัตวเเพทย์ได้ตรวจร่างกายเเละนำไป X-ray จึงพบว่าเธอไม่มีอาการกระดูกหักใดๆทั้งสิ้น เพียงเเต่มีรอยฟกช้ำเต็มใบหน้า คาดว่าถูกรถชนที่หัวอย่างจัง ทีมสัตวเเพทย์จึงได้ให้น้ำเกลือเพื่อฟื้นฟูอาการเหนื่อยล้าเเละปล่อยให้พักผ่อน เราได้ตั้งชื่อเจ้าลิงว่า ’ ชะเเง๊ ‘ ชื่อเดียวกับวัดที่เธอจากมา

หลังจากเฝ้าดูอาการมาได้ 4 วันพบว่าอาการของ ‘ ชะเเง๊ ‘ ดีขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัดเจน เธอสามารถทานอาหารเองได้เเละเริ่มเคลื่อนไหวได้เองปกติ เธอจะได้กลับบ้านเมื่อทีมสัตวเเพทย์เเน่ใจว่าเธอมีอาการคงที่เเละสามารถดูเเลตัวเองได้เองตามธรรมชาติ มาติดตามกันต่อไปนะครับ

ลิงเเสมเป็นสายพันธุ์ที่พบได้มากที่สุดในประเทศไทย พวกมันถูกพบเห็นได้ทุกที่ไม่ว่าจะเป็นบริเวณป่า สวนสาธารณะ สถานที่ท่องเที่ยว หรือวัด สิ่งนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นว่ามนุษย์ได้บุกรุกถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยตามธรรมชาติของลิงเเสมโดยการตัดไม้ทำลายป่า แปลงป่าเป็นที่ดินเพื่อทำเกษตรหรือที่อยู่อาศัย ทำให้ลิงเหล่านี้ไม่มีทางเลือกต้องอาศัยอยู่กับมนุษย์จึงทำให้เกิดการเเย่งชิงอาหารหรือทรัพย์สิน ถือเป็นข้อพิพาทระหว่างคนและลิงที่จะต้องเร่งแก้ไขโดยเร่งด่วน
