RESCUE NEWS – Lily the Macaque

เรื่องราวการช่วยเหลือลิงน้อย “ลิลลี่”

เมื่อไม่กี่วันที่ผ่านมา เราได้ต้อนรับสมาชิกใหม่ “ลิลลี่” เป็นลิงแสมทารกน้อยหางยาวที่พิเศษตัวหนึ่ง ถูกพบที่บริเวณข้างถนนและคิดว่าน่าจะเสียชีวิตแล้ว แต่เมื่อทีมช่วยชีวิตได้สัมผัสตัวเธอ ก็เริ่มเคลื่อนไหว จากนั้นก็ได้นำเธอไปที่โครงการดูแลสัตว์แห่งหนึ่งบนเกาะช้าง โดยมีคุณลิซ่าและทีมสามารถช่วยชีวิตเธอไว้ได้ เราถูกร้องขอให้เข้าช่วยเหลือเนื่องจากมีความชำนาญในการดูแลและฟื้นฟูสัตว์ทารกเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมที่บาดเจ็บ หรือพิการ

เราประเมินว่า “ลิลลี่” น่าจะมีอายุได้ซัก 4 เดือน และจากผลเอ็กซเรย์ยืนยันว่ากะโหลกศีรษะได้รับบาดเจ็บ เธออาจจะมีความบกพร่องทางร่างกายบางอย่างอยู่บ้างแต่เราก็มั่นใจว่า เธอจะสามารถใช้ชีวิตอย่างมีความสุขในแบบที่เธอเป็นได้ และที่โรงพยาลสัตว์ของมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่าของเรา เธอได้พบและให้ความสนใจกับลิงทารกน้อยอีก 4 ตัว ต้องคอยติดตามว่าสัมพันธภาพระหว่างเพื่อนใหม่ของเค้าทั้ง 5 จะเป็นอย่างไรต่อไป

A few days ago we welcomed little Lily, a very special infant long-tailed macaque.

Lily was found at the side of the road and assumed dead but when her rescuers moved her from the road she started to move. She was then taken to the Koh Chang Animal Project, Lisa and her team were able to save her life. We were asked to help due to our expertise in rehabilitating disabled primates.

We estimate that Lily is around 4 months old. She has sustained serious injuries to her skull, this was confirmed when we performed an x-ray. She will have some permanent impairments but we are confident she will be able to live a happy enriched life with others of her own kind. She is already showing an interest in the 4 other infants currently at the WFFT Wildlife Hospital. Watch this space for updates on Lily making some new friends.
