RESCUE NEWS – 2 Babies Saved in 1 Day

Yesterday we welcomed two macaque monkey orphans.

The first was ‘Im Un’ who was rescued from Uthai Thani by Khun Kae Chollada and the team from The Voice Foundation. Khun Kae had rescued Im Um and his mother a few days ago, they had been hit by a car and badly injured. Sadly his mother passed away leaving him orphaned. We were asked to help take care of him, as our team are experts in caring for infant macaques. Thank to Khun Kae for saving this little one.

The second infant is ‘Somchai”. He was also involved in a vehicle collision a few days ago at temple in Phetchaburi. His mother died, a monk contacted us and asked for help. The team headed out straight away to rescue him. After the initial health check it was found that he has problems with his spine. We do not know yet weather he will survive this terrible ordeal. Both Im Um and Somchai will require round the clock care for the next few weeks.

With nowhere else to live many wild animals are forced to coexistence with humans in urban areas, where they are often victims of human-wildlife conflict.
