Shampoo and Hoy, two stunning long-tailed macaques, have recently arrived at WFFT after enduring years in a cramped cage, deprived of sunlight and freedom.
New Arrival: Click, A Baby Long-Tailed Macaque
Throughout Thailand, wildlife and human lives often intersect in tragic ways. Sadly, this was the case for a young long-tailed macaque named Click.
Click’s life was forever altered when his mother and sibling were struck by a car on a busy road. His mother was killed instantly, along with Click’s sibling. Little Click, just a few months old, was found lying beside his mother’s lifeless body. The trauma and fear this tiny, intelligent creature must have experienced are unimaginable.
The accident took place far from the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) sanctuary, requiring a round trip of nearly 12 hours. Our rescue team rushed to save Click, knowing that every minute was crucial for his survival.
When Click arrived at our wildlife hospital, he didn’t appear to have sustained any significant injuries. However, upon further investigation, we discovered he had a fractured leg. But Click is a brave little boy, and under the compassionate care of our wildlife hospital team, he is slowly healing.
With time, his leg will heal, but the emotional scars from the loss of his family will remain. Our team is now providing him with the round-the-clock care that a young orphan needs. When he is old enough and strong enough, he will be introduced to other youngsters or a foster mum to help him on his journey.
Long-tailed macaques like Click are an endangered species, facing numerous threats from human-wildlife conflict. Road accidents, electrocution from power lines, and direct persecution are just a few of the dangers these intelligent creatures face daily. It is crucial that we learn to coexist with wildlife and take steps to protect these vulnerable species before it is too late.
Click’s future and how you can help
Subsequently, Click will now spend the rest of his life at our sanctuary, where he will be safe, cared for, and loved. However, providing this care requires significant resources, and we cannot do it alone.
We rely on the generosity of people like you to continue our life-saving work. Please consider making a donation to help us care for Click and other orphans like him. Your support can give animals the second chance at life they so desperately need.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can protect Thailand’s precious wildlife. Please donate today.
