Severely Injured Infant Macaque Rescued

An infant wounded macaque named Lantao arrived at our wildlife hospital in desperate need of help. Rescued from Koh Lanta, she has suffered terrible trauma—an old open fracture has left her arm likely beyond saving, she is blind in one eye, and she is also malnourished.

We can only assume that Lantao was attacked—possibly by dogs or other macaques. Despite everything she has endured, she is a fighter.

Our veterinary team is doing everything possible to stabilise this endangered long-tailed macaque. Once she recovers, she will require lifelong sanctuary care, as she can sadly cannot return to the wild.

Lantao is now safe, but she has a long journey ahead. She needs urgent medical treatment, intensive care, and proper nutrition to regain her strength.
