Shampoo and Hoy, two stunning long-tailed macaques, have recently arrived at WFFT after enduring years in a cramped cage, deprived of sunlight and freedom.
Back to the Wild – 2 Slow Lorises Returned Home
After spending a short time under observation at the WFFT Wildlife Rescue Centre two Bengal slow lorises (Nycticebus bengalensis) were returned back to the wild a few days ago. The Bengal Slow Loris is listed as Vulnerable (VU) by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Sadly, illegal trading and habitat loss mean all species of wild slow lorises are declining. They are hunted and traded for food, traditional “medicine”, sport, and as pets. Thankfully these two were rescued and get a second chance at life, they have been released into a protected forest area. Run free little ones!!!
