Shampoo and Hoy, two stunning long-tailed macaques, have recently arrived at WFFT after enduring years in a cramped cage, deprived of sunlight and freedom.
Back to the Islands they go…
The rain that fell in last years’ rainy season was not enough to keep the WFFT lake full of water all year round so a few months ago we had to relocate the gibbons from the Gibbon Rehabilitation Islands into the main WFFT Wildlife Rescue Centre. Thankfully this year the rains have arrived filling up our lake to a level safe enough to allow us to once again use the Gibbon Islands. This week after some maintenance and refurbishments we have started to put the gibbons back out there. Three of the islands are currently occupied, with 5 more to be completed in the coming weeks. Here are some images of the first gibbons going back, as you can see they are very happy to be returning to their island homes.
