This is one ‘Lucky’ elephant

Lucky the elephant arrived at WFFT’s Elephant Refuge late last night. A full assessment of her health is currently underway including blood samples, which have already been taken today. During this time she will be quarantined at the WFFT Elephant Hospital, becoming our first ever patient. She is severely malnourished, dehydrated and a potentially sickly elephant. Lucky is around 60 years old, after many torturous years being used in the tourist industry giving rides, performing in shows and spending most of the day chained up, she now has some respite. She has spent many of her previous years chained to a tree for most of the day in the full sun, without proper husbandry or diet, and no access to drinking water. We have not yet secured her place at WFFT and are seeking funds to ensure she never returns back to work. We will keep you updated on her progress.
