Purple swamp hens going home!
Recently rescued from a private collection 7 “purple swamp hens” Porphyrio porphyrio were released back to their natural habitat in Petchburi province. We found the birds to be in excellent health and shy of people and ready to be released, not long after we found a perfect habitat for them.
The brids were all released two days ago and it took them less than an hour to get settled in their new home, flying off in different directions most returned to the release site and started to forage and swim around. We are sending our staff back to the release site to monitor their wellbeing.
