Health Check for Malayan Sun Bear, Pee Mai

If there were a ‘Bear of the Year’ award, Pee Mai would definitely be a front-runner! Not only is he obviously very handsome, but he also has a habit of perching and lounging in slightly awkward (and hilarious) positions—just one of the many things we love about him.

Pee Mai lives in a group (or sleuth) of eight rescued bears from two different species. As the big boy in charge, he’s quite the charmer—all the ladies love him!

Recently, Pee Mai had a health check. As an aging bear, he needed a bit of dental work and a small wound patched up.

Did you know? We care for 32 rescued bears, most of whom were saved from tiny cages in homes, temples, and zoos. We try to give them the beary best life possible.

33 Euros can feed a rescued bear for an entire month. Can you give a one-off or monthly gift to help care for a special bear like Pee Mai?

Pee Mai is 22 years and 7 months old—rescued in December 2002 at just 6 months old—making him one of the first bears to arrive at WFFT!
