Meet Tung Thong, the Latest Slow Loris to Join the WFFT Family!

He was kept as a pet for three years and was fed an unnatural diet which made him ill. Now he’s recovering and safe at our sanctuary. 

After being bought from a hunter for 3,000 THB, Tung Thong was kept as a pet for three years by local villagers who fed him an unnatural diet of fruits, bread, and even Oreos. He eventually fell ill, but fortunately the villagers surrendered him to our sanctuary where he received the care and nutrition he needed.

Slow lorises are endangered primates and are listed on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss, hunting, and the illegal pet trade. Let’s all work together to spread awareness about the risks of keeping exotic animals as pets and help keep them in their natural habitats.
