Celebrating International Gibbon Day 2024 and Our Biggest-Ever Primate Rescue

On this International Gibbon Day – Join us in celebrating our biggest-ever primate rescue. This operation brought 31 remarkable primates to the sanctuary, many of whom were sick, elderly, or missing limbs.

Over the past year, it has been an honour to care for these resilient individuals, providing them with the love and care they deserve, and we hope to share many more years with them.

Gibbons are one of the most threatened families of primates. They continue to be kept in poor-quality zoos, used as tourist attractions, or exploited as pets, in Thailand and in many other countries. Their plight highlights the urgent need for stronger wildlife protection and conservation efforts.

This rescue wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible partners, including Asia Wild and the International Primate Protection League (IPPL) as well as the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund.

Together, we are striving for a brighter future for gibbons and all animals in need.

Thank you to everyone who made this rescue a reality.
