Meow gets his spinal surgery!

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 04.25.34
On January 30th 2012 Meow the tiger went through spinal surgery at Chulalongkorn university in Bangkok.

After Meow had serious problems over the last few months standing up or walking we were finally able to have x-rays done and eventually even a full MRI scan of his spine. Damage found on his spine looked very serious but Thai veterinarians were convinced surgery would be possible and might enable him to walk again. On the 30th of January 2012 we finally got to this procedure in cooperation with Chulalongkorn University Veterinary faculty. Meow is now back at the center and in serious pain from the surgery but we are confident that he will soon feel better and hope for improvement in his movements.

Care for the wild international (CFTWI), based in the UK have sponsored the food and care for Meow over the last 3 years and have now also offered to pay for Meow’s medical bills of the MRI and spinal surgery. We are very thankful to CFTWI for this continued support of Meow and our work!

A more detailed report will be put up on this page soon, but for now it seems that Meow is doing better then we expected, thanks to the perfect team work at Chulalongkorn University.

More (detailed medical) updates soon!
