Two Coconut Monkeys Rescued in 1 week – Part 2 – Odd

ภารกิจช่วยเหลือลิงกังเก็บมะพร้าว 2 ชีวิต ตัวที่สองคือ “อ๊อด”

อ๊อด เป็นลิงกังเหนืออีกตัวที่เคยเป็นลิงเก็บมะพร้าวมาก่อนเหมือนกับ การฟิลด์ ตอนนี้อ๊อดอายุ 12 ปีแล้ว อ๊อดถูกใช้งานเพื่อปีนเก็บมะพร้าวมาตั้งแต่ยังเล็ก จนวันนึงอ๊อดคงทนไม่ไหวกับการถูกใช้งาน ถูกทารุณ อ๊อดเริ่มแสดงพฤติกรรมก้าวร้าว กัดเจ้าของ ทำร้ายชาวบ้านหลายๆ คน เจ้าของคนปัจจุบันซื้ออ๊อดมาได้ประมาณสัก 6 เดือน แต่เจ้าของไม่สามารถฝึกอ๊อดให้เก็บมะพร้าวได้เลย สุดท้ายจึงตัดสินใจล่ามโซ่อ๊อดไว้กับต้นไม้อย่างนั้น อ๊อดที่โดนล่ามโซ่และมีบ่วงรัดคอที่รัดแน่นไว้นั้นนานวันเข้าบ่วงติดแน่นจนฝังเข้าไปในเนื้อ ทำให้เกิดเป็นแผลลึกติดเชื้อ ซึ่งหากไม่ทำการรักษาสุดท้ายอ๊อดก็จะตาย โชคดีที่ในขณะนั้นคุณเอ็ดวิน วีค ผู้ก่อตั้งมูลินิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่า อยู่ในพื้นที่เกาะสมุยเพื่อสำรวจหาข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับคุณภาพชีวิตของลิงกังเก็บมะพร้าว คุณเอ็ดวินได้เจออ๊อด และเพื่อไม่ให้บาดแผลที่คอติดเชื้อไปมากกว่านั้น อ๊อดต้องได้การรักษาโดยด่วน หลังจากการพูดคุยเจ้าของตัดสินใจมอบอ๊อดให้ทางเราดูแลต่อ ตอนนี่อ๊อดได้เริ่มชีวิตใหม่ที่มูลนิธิแล้ว

Meet ‘Odd’ a 12-year-old Northern Pig-tailed Macaque the second ex-coconut monkey to arrived at WFFT last week. He had been kept as a coconut monkey most of his life and had finally decided he had had enough of the abuse, he started attacking his owner, causing injuries to numerous people. His current owner had purchased him 6 months ago but had been unable to train him so he was left chained to a tree. The metal collar around his neck had become deeply imbedded leading to an infection, which would ultimately end in death. WFFT’s Founder Edwin Wiek came across Odd while inspecting the welfare of coconut monkeys on the island of Koh Samui. Odd was in need of urgent rescue to avoid further infection to his wound. Luckily the owner decided to give him up. He is currently settling in to his new life at WFFT.
