Urgent Fundraising Appeal – New Animal Habitats

ปริมาณน้ำในบริเวณรอบๆของมูลนิธิฯเหลือน้อยมากหรือเรียกได้ว่าเเทบจะไม่เหลือเลยสืบเนื่องมาจากปีนี้ฝนตกน้อย เราคาดว่าในอีกไม่กี่สัปดาห์น้ำจะลดลงมากกว่านี เราจำเป็นต้องอพยพชะนีออกจากเกาะเป็นจำนวน8กลุ่มด้วยกันเเละต้องสร้างเกาะใหม่ให้พวกเขาเพื่อเป็นการย้ายถิ่นฐาน นอกจากนี้มูลนิธิฯกำลังอยู่ในช่วง low season ซึ่งทำให้ขาดเเขลนทั้งอาสาสมัครเเละผู้เยี่ยมชมรายวันส่งผลให้รายได้เเต่ละเดือนนั้นลดฮวบ

ปีนี้ทางมูลนิธิฯได้รับการเเจ้งเกี่ยวกับสัตว์ตระกูลแมวที่ต้องการความช่วยเหลือมากเป็นพิเศษดังนั้นเราจำเป็นต้องสร้างที่อยู่อาศัยใหม่อย่างเร่งด่วนเพื่อรองรับสัตว์เหล่านี้ ขณะนี้มูลนิธิฯเป็นที่พักพิงให้กับสัตว์ตระกูลเเมวป่าทั้งหมด 5 ชนิดด้วยกัน ประเทศไทยมีแมวป่าที่ถูกคุกคามอยู่ทั้งหมด 9 สายพันธุ์ด้วย แมวเหล่านี้ถูกคุกคามจากการสูญเสียถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยและจำนวนมากถูกล่าเพื่อนำมาใช้ในการแพทย์แผนโบราณ ถูกนำร่างกายมาทำเป็นเครื่องราง หรือเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยง

เรามีเป้าหมายที่จะระดมทุนรวม 700,000 บาทเพื่อดำเนินการทั้งสองโครงการ เงินจำนวนนี้จะถูกนำไปใช้เพื่อสร้างที่อยู่อาศัยเพิ่มเติมให้กับสัตว์ที่รอความช่วยเหลือเเละจะสร้างบนพื้นที่ของมูลนิธิฯที่เราได้ทำการซื้อไว้ก่อนหน้านี้เเล้ว

This year we have seen very little rain in this part of Thailand resulting in our water reservoirs being unusually low and almost empty. In a few weeks, as the water runs dry, we will have to remove gibbons from their island homes out on the big lake at the WFFT Wildlife Rescue Centre. This means we need to provide new habitats for at least 8 groups of gibbons, we hope to build 3 new gibbon rehabilitation enclosures as soon as possible. We are currently experiencing an unusually quite ‘low’ season of both volunteers and day visitors, which means that our monthly income has drastically decreased.

WFFT’s currently houses 5 species of wildcat. We have seen an abnormally large influx of felines in need of help this year so we have had to urgently build some new habitats to accommodate these animals. We still need more suitable homes for those we have rescued and to allow us to help more in need in the future. Thailand has 9 threatened species of wildcat. All of these cats are threatened by habitat loss and many are illegally poached from the wild for uses in traditional medicine, for their body parts and fur as amulets, and for the exotic pet trade.

We are aiming to fundraise a total of 23,100.00 USD to complete both projects. This will provide us with enough funds us to construct additional animal habitats. The enclosures will be built on land that the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand has already purchased so luckily we are not also raising funds to secure more land.

We have 2 gibbons, numerous macaques and other wild animals such as otters on our rescue waiting list. We literally cannot rescue these animals due to lack of space. Can you help us help them?
