Loy Krathong Celebration

WFFT celebrated Loy Krathong last night, a traditional Thai festival observed on the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar. This ceremony pays respects to the water goddess for the rainy season and bountiful harvests. Our staff showed volunteers how to assemble krathongs with banana trunk slices as buoyant bases adorned with elaborately folded leaves, orchids, marigolds, incense, and candles. After a boisterous dinner, we gathered on our lakeshore, made wishes, and let go of our anger and negativity along with our krathongs. It was a beautiful and peaceful sight!
