One of our rescued Asiatic Black Bears, Ginny, was suffering with a 3rd eyelid protrusion and recently had surgery to bring her much-needed relief.
BREAKING NEWS – Joyful Moments with Joy…
After 15 years locked in a small cage with a concrete floor rescued Asiatic black bear Joy felt grass on her feet, sunlight on her skin and water on her whole body for the first time in over a decade. So many new scents, sounds and tastes for her to discover.

Two days ago we opened the door to Joys den and she slowly began to move out, she looked at the open sky with wonder, she appeared calm, almost as if she knew that she was safe.
She spent the next few hours exploring every corner of her new home, raiding chicken nests and eating eggs, pulling down bamboo plants, tasting every leaf she came across, digging in the soft sand to create a cool place to relax, but most special of all Joy loved swimming in her new pool, see a video here https://youtu.be/PITo4ULRLEY.
We hope that she will become friends with Nuru, another rescued Asiatic black bear here at the WFFT Wildlife Rescue Centre. Nuru lives in the same area as Joy, so far she seems very interested in Joy’s scent and sounds. Your lonely live ends here Joy. We will keep you posted on any progress.
